Performs administrative/clerical activities specific to the Payroll function to include collecting, calculating and entering payroll-related data as needed. Researches and resolves payroll discrepancies of a less complex nature by collecting and researching information and updating payroll records as appropriate. Responds to employee payroll questions in a timely manner. This is an entry-level administrative/clerical position requiring experience, skill, and knowledge of organization policies and practices. The Payroll Assistant performs repetitive administrative/clerical duties and follows existing procedures. This position requires immediate supervision. May exercise some judgment in accordance with well-established policies, procedures, and techniques.
REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collects, calculates, enters less complex payroll data and updates employee records as appropriate; records statistics, and handles highly confidential material.
Records, posts, codes, logs, photocopies, distributes, and updates information.
Answers questions and inquiries in various areas of payroll and responds accordingly.
Prepares periodic, standardized reports.
Maintains payroll records by organizing and filing documents.
